Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education is a place where potential and ability are valued over background or ethnicity. We are an establishment where further and higher education is available and welcome to all. Our aim is simple; we aspire to grow as an independent, internationally recognised centre of higher education focusing on lifelong learning through academic, technical, and customised programmes.
The College is accountable for the quality and standards of its provision and is required to participate in the activities of bodies such as The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) and the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA).
While consideration is given to the needs of such bodies, it is the Academic Council’s responsibility to ensure the College’s quality assurance procedures are appropriate primarily for its teaching, learning and assessment activities, rather than being driven by external quality regimes.
The dissemination of good practice is important for the enhancement of the College’s learning and teaching provision. The College’s boards and committees aim to facilitate and identify examples of good practice within the higher education sector which might be useful within the College.
Board and committee meetings support the development of learning and teaching policies and procedures. They also make sure all quality assurance documentation is controlled ensuring that all elements are current and regularly reviewed and fit for purpose.
Our quality assurance documents are available below for all staff, students, external bodies, and the public to view.
