Al-Maktoum College offers programmes in Arabic Language, Business, Islamic Studies, Management & Leadership, Moral Economy & Finance and Organisational Learning.  

Our qualifications

All Al-Maktoum College programmes are SCQF credit-rated by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and are recognised by employers and universities. There are many pathways at Al-Maktoum College which allow for further study or employment.

In addition we offer the following programmes in collaboration with leading universities:

MSc Islamic Finance, awarded by the University of Dundee.

MPhil The Middle East in a Global Context, awarded by Trinity College Dublin.

About our qualifications

Arabic language programmes

We offer 3 levels of Arabic Language programmes- beginners, intermediate and advanced learners.

The Introductory Certificate in Arabic Language is a 1-year full-time programme for complete beginners. Successful completion will enable you to progress to the Certificate in Arabic Language and you will be at level SCQF level 6 or level A2 on the CEFR scale.

The Certificate in Arabic Language is a 1-year full-time programme for intermediate learners. Successful completion will enable you to progress to the Diploma in Arabic Language and you will be at level SCQF level 8 or level B1/B2 on the CEFR scale.

The Diploma in Arabic Language is a 1-year full-time programme for upper intermediate/advanced learners. Successful completion will develop your language skills to level SCQF level 10 or level B2/C1 on the CEFR scale.

HNC/D programmes

Studying a Higher National Certificate (HNC) usually takes 1 year full-time and is the equivalent of first year of university or SCQF level 7. Successful completion of an HNC allows you to progress to the HND or alternatively, you may choose to complete your studies at university.

A Higher National Diploma (HND) is a 2-year programme where the HNC makes up the first year and the second is the equivalent of second year at university or SCQF level 8. Successful completion of an HND allows you to progress to university or employment.

Islamic Studies

The Advanced Diploma in Islamic Studies is a 1-year programme and is SCQF credit-rated at level 10.

 

Moral Economy & Finance

We offer a suite of professional qualifications in Moral Economy & Finance to develop your understanding of key Islamic economics, finance and banking concepts and practices as well as sustainability and entrepreneurship.
