Alm College is gearing up to host Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce members, for a ‘not to be missed’ Summer Social event.
The Summer Social will take place Thursday 25 July and looks to be the first of many DACC events hosted by Alm College.
Promising to be an afternoon full of networking, fun and learning, attendees will be given an insight in to the world of Arabic language & Culture for Business, Islamic Finance, and Management skills- all highly relevant to Business professionals from different sectors.
Arabic Lecturer, Safaa Radoan, said “Given that there are over 400 million Arabic speakers around the world, having a basic knowledge of the language is becoming increasingly important and this is something that business professionals should be aware of. The Arabic & Culture sessions will introduce the language and Islam, through interactive quizzes, with myself and colleague Dr Drammeh leading group discussions. I’m sure participants will leave knowing something they didn’t know before.”
Attendees looking for advice and helpful business/management tips will be given the opportunity to speak with Martin Dowling, Alm College’s Business and Management & Leadership programme leader. In his session, Martin will review ‘the ways in which management as a profession has been documented and researched, so that we may appreciate the complexity of skills required by effective managers today. Participants will be able to recognise where their own strengths as a manager currently lie, thus determining opportunities for future development’.
Recently, Alm College became the first institution of higher education in Scotland to offer Islamic Finance as a masters qualification. Dr Alhammadi and Professor Russell will be discussing Islamic Finance and how it is relevant to business professions. The Islamic finance system differs greatly from conventional ‘western’ finance systems. The session will deal specifically with how Islamic finance deals with financing cars and houses, and trade relations.
The Summer Social event is open to all DACC members, and participants should register their interests via the DACC events page , before Tuesday 12 noon.
Alm College looks forward to welcoming returning and new members through its doors, and to sharing its specialist knowledge through such an exciting event.
