College launches £20,000 Rapid Response Fund

Al-Maktoum College of Higher Education has launched a £20,000 Coronavirus Rapid Response Fund to support community organisations facing difficulties as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Grants of up to £500 are available to help local registered charities struggling to continue their work due to the impact of the virus. Preference will be given to organisations that support people identified as being particularly vulnerable in relation to coronavirus.

Mindful of the many challenges facing community organisations at this time, Al-Maktoum College has put in place a simplified application process which should take less than 30 minutes to complete.

Any community-based organisation which is a registered charity, based within a 25 mile radius of Dundee, and is facing difficulties due to the coronavirus outbreak is eligible to apply. To ensure funds are provided as quickly as possible, a closing date of 1 May has been set.

The Coronavirus Rapid Response Fund is an acceleration of the College’s twice-yearly community grant scheme which aims to help people overcome challenges in the face of adversity.

Head of College Dr Abi Abubaker said:

“Supporting our local community is one of the central values of our College and we want to provide as much help as we can during this very difficult time. To do that, we decided to create a rapid award process to get funds to where they are needed as quickly as possible.

I hope that our Coronavirus Rapid Response Fund will really help our community at this most difficult of times.”
