Intensive Summer Arabic Language Courses

On 3 July and 14 August 2017, Al-Maktoum College is offering two new intensive courses in Arabic language this summer – a complete Beginners’ course and a Post Beginners’ one.

“These have been designed to give participants the opportunity to acquire foreign language and cultural skills in a professional context,” said Dr Hossein Godazgar, College Principal and Vice Chancellor.

“All our course teaching staff are highly qualified native speakers with great experience in teaching their own language as a foreign language.”

There will be on-going assessments and those participants successfully completing their course, or courses, can go on to a next level one if they wish.

The classes – during July, August and early September – will run for four hours a day, Monday to Friday from 10 to midday and 1 pm to 3 pm.

Each four-week intensive course at two different levels, consisting of 80 hours tuition over 20 days, costs £80.

Those who enrol will be expected to spend 1-2 hours daily in self-study to strengthen and practise what they learned in class. A certificate of completion will be awarded for each course.

Complete Beginner I: July 3 – 28, 2017.

  • The Complete Beginner I course is suitable for candidates who have no knowledge of Arabic. By the end of the course, the candidates will be able to introduce themselves and greet people while basic topics such as family, food and asking questions will be covered.

Post Beginner II: August 14 – September 8, 2017.

  • The Post Beginner II course is suitable for candidates who completed our Beginner I or have a little and basic knowledge of Arabic. A placement test is required prior to the start of the course to evaluate the participant’s level. By the end of the course, the participants will develop the four core skills: Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening. The course will cover various topics such as travelling, weather, clothes, professions and describing places and people. Facilities also include audio-visual recording for interactive sessions.
