Name: Leona Mudie
Role in College: Administrative Assistant
My name is Leona and I work in the Student Administration office at Al-Maktoum College as an Administrative Assistant. Working in student admin isn’t just about dealing with paperwork, it means being a supportive, friendly face that our students can approach on non-academic matters as well. I’m well known in the College for my love of chocolate and that I always have extra to share. Away from the office, I can mostly be found in one of the many public libraries here in Dundee devouring books.
Thinking back on my 10 years working at Al-Maktoum College, the word that keeps coming to mind is opportunity. I have had a monumental opportunity to interact with and learn from such a wide variety of people from the student body to my co-workers.
Our college is a magnificent microcosm of the best that each of our cultures can offer, it shows that while we have so many differences, our willingness to come together to learn, not just in the classroom but in our everyday experiences can enrich our lives and bring us together. The people are the glue that holds the college together, we each play an important role in making it a success for our students, and I’m proud of my part in that.
The opportunities in life are endless for those who wish to start their journey with us.
