About me

My name is Mohammed Ali Hamza, and I am an international student currently in my first year studying on the HND Business course at Al-Maktoum College.

Tell us about your experience studying with Al-Maktoum College

My overall student experience with the College has been really educative and exciting. I can boldly say that joining Alm College has been the best decision I have made for my education so far.

Since the start of my educational journey, Alm College quickly became a second family to me and this is because of how staff and students relate with each other in and out of the college. I was inspired to join Alm College because is it a place where potential and ability is valued over background and ethnicity. This idea was something really important to me.

In the future, I would like to become a successful businessman hence my decision to study on the HND Business course. I chose to study on this specific Business course because of the College’s articulation agreement with Abertay University which will enable me to continue onto a degree after the completion of my course with the college.

My respect for the college increased especially during the pandemic because of how online lectures were conducted. The interest of students was considered above everything and even though we were in difficult times, the college made sure that all students had a unique student online learning experience. Personally, I would prefer studies to continue online because of how lecturers dedicate their time to ensure every student understands every module although I’m sure I will get the same experience in the college too. Lecturers are available for additional support and provide students with extra course material to help us further understand any particular modules.

Do you have any advice for prospective students?

As a current student, I want to advise prospective students that Alm College isn’t just any College it is a place where you’ll feel welcomed as part of one big family. Enjoy the experience because it is not something you can find at any other colleges.

What would you like to do when you finish your studies at the College?

I aspire to eventually progress on to study for a Master’s degree in Islamic Finance, jointly offered between the Alm College and the University of Dundee.
